Calgary project to build ‘a beautiful stained glass ice fort’ boosts spirits during pandemic – Calgary

Tina Buijs and her two-year-old son Benjamin started working once they noticed a set of water-filled pails and meals colouring on an out of doors desk at a southwest Calgary strip mall on Wednesday.

“These are going to be ice blocks,” Buijs advised her son, “to make a phenomenal stained glass ice fort.”

It’s a part of a mission began by the proprietor of a deli within the strip mall, who’s desirous to deliver the neighbourhood collectively through the pandemic.

“Something to get outdoors, get open air and simply have enjoyable,” Alpine Sausage proprietor Janeen Norman stated. “I believe we’ve acquired sufficient stress in our lives, and this simply provides us one thing new to look ahead to.”

Norman is encouraging folks to make their very own ice blocks at residence. Persons are planning to return collectively through the afternoon of Sunday, Jan. 31 on the Glamorgan Group Corridor to create the ice fort.

Working alongside her, Smid’s 12-year-old sister agreed.
