Canadian hoops star Natalie Achonwa joining WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx: reports

Canadian basketball star Natalie Achonwa is signing a multiyear contract with the Minnesota Lynx, an individual acquainted with the deal advised The Related Press.

The individual spoke to the AP on Thursday on situation of anonymity as a result of no official announcement is allowed till Feb. 1.

Achonwa, from Guelph, Ont., has performed her total WNBA profession in Indiana after getting drafted ninth by the Fever in 2014. She missed that season whereas recovering from an damage. She’s averaged 7.7 factors and 4.5 rebounds in her profession.

She joins fellow Canadian Bridget Carleton of Chatham, Ont., who re-signed with the Lynx earlier this month.

This transfer comes a day after the AP confirmed that the Lynx added Kayla McBride to the roster. That deal can also’t undergo till Monday.

They’re going to be becoming a member of a robust core in Minnesota that features the previous two WNBA Rookies of the 12 months in Crystal Dangerfield and Napheesa Collier, in addition to the league’s profession main rebounder, Sylvia Fowles.

The Lynx have gained 4 WNBA championships within the final 10 seasons. They misplaced within the semifinals of the playoffs final 12 months to Seattle
