The federal authorities introduced Friday it should commit $7.9 million to assist retrofit, restore, and improve three provincial buildings in Calgary.

The buildings to profit from the funding are the Calgary Remand Centre, the Previous Court docket of Attraction, and the Calgary Correctional Centre. Work will embrace heating system upgrades, alternative of chillers and air dealing with items, and window and hearth alarm system replacements.

The cash will come from the federal government’s COVID-19 Resilience Infrastructure Stream, a program designed to assist provinces fund quick-start, short-term infrastructure tasks. It’s a cost-sharing program, and the Alberta authorities will commit practically $2 million to the Calgary tasks.

Infrastructure enhancements can even happen at three provincial buildings in Edmonton and the Wetaskiwin space. For these tasks, the federal authorities will commit $1.3 million and the province will commit $340,000.
