Correctional Service Canada is reviewing the circumstances of an inmate’s demise on the Drumheller Establishment.
CSC stated the inmate died on Thursday. He is not being named to respect the needs of his subsequent of kin, CSC stated.
On the time of his demise, he was about 4 months into a two-year sentence for possession of property obtained by crime and possession of medicine used for trafficking.
CSC stated police and the coroner have been notified.
The person’s explanation for demise was not launched.
The demise is the primary on the medium-security jail, positioned about 130 kilometres east of Calgary in southern Alberta, this 12 months.
The jail, which has a capability of 582 offenders, noticed one inmate demise final 12 months. Mark Kelly, 50, died in custody on Dec. 7, 2020.
