House of Commons holds emergency debate on Keystone XL

Members of Parliament are holding an emergency debate Monday to debate the Keystone XL pipeline enlargement. 

Final week, U.S. President Joe Biden scrapped the pipeline’s allow as certainly one of his first actions in workplace, successfully killing the $8-billion US mission.

Opposition Chief Erin O’Toole known as for the controversy earlier on Monday, accusing the federal government of not doing sufficient to advocate for the mission. 

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s authorities has repeatedly mentioned it helps the mission, and Trudeau expressed his disappointment with Biden throughout a name between the 2 leaders on Friday. 

If accomplished, the 1,897-kilometre pipeline, first introduced in 2005, would have carried 830,000 barrels of ollsands crude from Hardisty, Alta., to Nebraska. It will then join with the unique Keystone that runs to U.S. Gulf Coast refineries.
